HE stands for High Explosive. This type of ammunition is a favourite amongst special forces soldiers as it is relatively light, and extremely effective of ranges of up to 400m.
This is a replica of a 40mm UGL (Underslung Grenade Launcher) round. UGL refers to the type of launcher used, a UGL is normally fitted to the fore-end of a rifle or is sometimes carried in a slung position and reached for when needed.
40mm grenades are also great when facing enemies hiding behind walls or inside structures. A High Explosive 40mm round can penetrate steel-reinforced concrete with a thickness of more than 185mm. In the impact area, they have a blast radius of 130m, making them very effective for room clearances.
